Students attend computer sessions twice a week. Instruction covers digital literacy, productivity tools, responsible technology use, and foundational knowledge of hardware and software. Computer literacy is a pre-requisite for any career choice a student may make. In support of this belief, Nur ul Islam Academy has designed a computer education program beginning from Pre-K through the 12th grade. These classes teach the basic skills needed to further improve the students’ working knowledge of today’s technology.
The Academy recognizes the importance of teachers and professionals remaining current in their knowledge of technology, thus the Academy encourages professional growth through workshops, hands-on activities and online courses. In addition, the program prepares students for success in higher grades and future careers.
Middle school students are learning how to use various computer productivity tools. These tools range from word editing to video editing tools. In the process they are exposed to graphic design, videography, social media awareness and stock investing. The goal of Computing Today is to provide students with the basis for understanding the concepts necessary for success in the digital and information Age. Computing Today also endeavors to instill in students an appreciation for the effect information technology has on people and our environment and to give students a basis for building the necessary skills needed to succeed in the 21st century.
Students also learn how to code using the HTML, CSS and Javascript language to allow them to build their own web applications. By understanding the basics of computer languages, students will develop critical thinking skills and also will be able to design and implement sophisticated websites that can be published in the World Wide Web and used by others.
High school students are learning about the foundation of computer programming. database programs and utilizing Graphical User Interface to enhance their understanding of a wide variety of topics across the curriculum. They are also learning about the latest electronic technical devices, not only their functions but also their possible usage as they prepare to take these skills into the work environment of the future.
Students learn how to modify and maintain websites and use vendor-created websites to create the school yearbook and newspaper. The STEM-based Robotics Lab activities enhance students’ technological skills as well. These experiences allow students to develop critical thinking skills that are applicable to real-world situations.

By providing Chromebooks with textbooks installed and school email accounts, the school is building a modern, efficient, and student-friendly digital system. This reduces physical strain, increases accessibility, and creates a safe, connected, and collaborative learning environment for all.
