Middle School (Grade 6-8)

Building Character, Knowledge, and Faith

NUIA’s Middle School program provides a strong academic and moral foundation for students in grades 6–8. This is a time of discovery, independence, and growth — and our teachers guide students every step of the way. Working closely with parents, we create a nurturing Islamic environment where students are encouraged to excel academically, spiritually, and socially.

Academic Excellence

Language Arts

Our Language Arts program helps students become confident readers, writers, and communicators.

Focus on reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and critical thinking.

Students explore literature, nonfiction, and technical texts.

Writing projects include essays, short stories, and poetry.

Weekly library visits foster a love for reading.

Participation in the Broward County Literary Fair inspires creativity and public recognition.

Test prep for NWEA MAP, PSAT 8/9, SAT, and ACT begins in 8th grade.

Core Materials: Into Reading, Writing and Grammar, and Vocabulary Workshop Achieve series.

Mathematics

Our math program helps students see the beauty and practicality of numbers.

Emphasis on problem-solving, logical reasoning, and real-world applications.

Topics include numbers and operations, geometry, measurement, patterns, and data collection.

Hands-on activities make math fun, engaging, and relevant to everyday life.

Science

Middle School science sparks curiosity and a love for discovery.

Grades 6–7: Integrated science introducing natural and earth sciences, life sciences, and physical sciences through experiments and research.

Grade 8: Physical science with high school credit opportunities.

Students perform hands-on experiments, use the scientific method, and apply engineering and research skills.

Promotes critical thinking and understanding of real-world scientific challenges.

Students explore the world and their place in it through history, geography, and civics.

Grade 6: Ancient Civilizations & World Geography

Lessons emphasize civic responsibility, historical awareness, and respect for cultural diversity.

Islami Studies c & Quranic Studies

Islamic Studies

Students attend Islamic Studies classes three times a week using Learning Islam Books 1–3.

Topics include the pillars of Islam, Islamic law, history, and ethics.

Students study the lives of prophets, the Quran’s revelations, and the Hadith.

Lessons encourage reflection, gratitude, and strong moral values.

Students strengthen their relationship with the Quran through reading, recitation, and memorization.

Focus on correct Tajweed rules and understanding the meaning of verses.

By the end of middle school, students memorize the 28th and 29th Juz.

Encourages spiritual connection and fluency in Quranic recitation.

World Languages – Arabic

Daily Arabic instruction helps students develop communication skills and cultural understanding.

Three levels: Low, Mid, and High Intermediate

Curriculum: Al-Madina Arabic Reader (Levels I–VI)

Focus on speaking, reading, writing, and listening comprehension.

Students gain insight into the language and culture of the Arabic-speaking world.

Computer Science

Preparing students for success in the digital age:

Learn essential programs like MS Excel and PowerPoint.

Coding instruction in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build real web projects.

Promotes problem-solving, creativity, and responsible technology use.

Art and Creative Expression

Our Art program encourages imagination, confidence, and collaboration.

Activities include visual art, crafts, music, movement, and drama.

Builds social, emotional, and creative skills through hands-on exploration.
