Message From Head of The Elementary School

Assalamu Alaikum, Family and Friends of Nur-ul-Islam Academy!

It is a joy and blessing to share the many wonderful things happening at Nur-Ul-Islam Academy. Alhamdulillah, our school family continues to grow — our students, faculty, and staff working hand in hand to create a nurturing environment rooted in faith, knowledge, and community. We are deeply grateful for your continued trust and support, and our doors are always open to you.

Each year, our hearts fill with pride as we watch our fifth graders complete their elementary journey and move on to middle school. We cherish their growth and achievements, and though we miss them dearly, they will always remain part of the Nur-Ul-Islam Elementary family. At the same time, we warmly welcome our newest first graders—bright, eager learners whose innocence and excitement remind us why we do what we do.

We are thankful for our dedicated teachers, staff, and administrators whose passion and commitment make our mission possible. Together, we strive to plant the seeds of faith, character, and academic excellence in every student. Our mission is to prepare them not only for academic success but to become compassionate, ethical citizens who reflect the beauty of Islam in all they do.

May Allah (SWT) bless our students, families, and community with continued success and guidance. We look forward to many more years of learning, growth, and shared blessings at Nur-Ul-Islam Academy.

With warm regards and du’as,

Sr. Judy Mohammed, Head of Elementary School

Elementary Academic Program

Nur-Ul-Islam Academy

Overview

The Elementary School at Nur-Ul-Islam Academy encompasses Grades 1 through 5, a stage that forms the foundation for lifelong learning by nurturing critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. Instruction emphasizes inquiry, reflection, discussion, evaluation, and application rather than rote memorization, preparing students to become independent learners.

Nur-Ul-Islam’s curriculum integrates national standards with Islamic values, fostering intellectual growth alongside moral and social development. The Academy offers the Florida State Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T). Standards. The curriculum of the elementary program is comprised of the following courses:

 Nur-Ul-Islam Academy

Students receive instruction in the following subjects:

– Language Arts
– Mathematics
– Science
– Social Studies
– Arabic (Foreign Language)
– Islamic Studies & Quran
– Computer Science
– Physical Education
– Art

Through these courses our students are enlightened about the world in which they live, with an emphasis on cultural diversity in an ever-expanding global environment. Teachers work with students and parents to ensure that this partnership will result in a life-long commitment to education. We have implemented Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) textbooks for three of the major courses (Language Arts, mathematics, and science, and we have also enacted textbooks from Savvas Learning Company – K-12, for social studies) because these textbooks are thematic in nature and are based on national standards.

Our students are encouraged to work in groups with an emphasis on inquiry as well as Project-Based Learning (PBL) and Community-Based Learning (CBL). All of our core courses are offered through digital and print resources; they facilitate integration between discipline
