Nur-Ul-Islam Academy (NUIA) has a rich history that dates back to the late 1970s, when a group of Muslim individuals in South Florida came together to provide Islamic education, initially offering classes in Arabic and basic Islamic principles in their homes.
In 1983, the group formalized their efforts by registering a non-profit corporation, Nuri-Al-Islam of South Florida, Inc., which later changed its name to Nur-Ul-Islam of South Florida, Inc. The organization continued to grow, and by 1989, they had purchased a 4-acre parcel of land in Cooper City, South Florida, to establish a permanent Islamic center of learning.
Throughout the 1990s, NUIA expanded its programs, establishing a full-time school with a comprehensive curriculum that included both religious and secular studies. The academy grew rapidly, and by 1996, the stockholders had leased portable units to accommodate their increasing student body. Today, NUIA is a thriving institution with a wide range of facilities.
